Writing Update: Slow and Steady (+ One Very Un-Okay Pinterest Edit)

Hello, all, and a very Happy belated Thanksgiving to you! ;)

Well, NaNoWriMo continues.  I've been plugging away pretty steadily, although if you were to compare the amount of words I've written per day with the amount that most of you NaNo participants are doing, 'twould not reflect so positively on me. :-P  But, since I'm not doing a "real" NaNo, that's alright, I suppose.

Actually, yesterday was the first day so far that I haven't worked on my story at all!  *les gasp*  But it makes me feel better that I honestly just forgot.

At the moment, I'm hitting a bit of a roadblock in terms of how to go about writing the rest of the story.  I know where I want it to go, but I'm not sure how exactly to get it there.  I also don't know how long I want it to be, which complicates things a bit.  But I guess the main thing is to just keep "chuffing along" and worry about perfecting things after the first draft is finished. ;)

ALSO OKAY SO I FOUND THIS EDIT ON PINTEREST A WHILE BACK AND I JUST:

(Pssst, guys, it even has the train.)

*clears throat*  ANYWAY.

How is NaNo going for you?
How do you get through "roadblocks" and uncertainty about the details of your writing?

  1. Well good on you for writing consistently! My stories are sadly neglected. Unfortunately, they are not my top priority at the moment.

Ohh, that Pinterest edit! THAT IS SO PERFECT IT'S BEAUTIFUL.

How do I get through road blocks? ... I just keep plowing through and let it write itself. ;)

P.S. Random, but I couldn't HELP but look at the book titles you have on the side of your blog... you have Tuck Everlasting, which made me jump! I only know the title because there was a musical of it (typical :P) on Broadway for a short while with Andrew Keenan-Bolger (the guy who plays Crutchie in the original cast of Newsies on stage) in it and I thought it looked quite good... what is the book like?

    1. Why, thank you! Hey, they're not usually my top priority either, so at least you're not alone. ;)

      ISN'T IT LIKE WHAT.

      Huh, good advice! ;)

P.S. Haha, well, "you're welcome to look." ;D (Heehee. Have you seen Ever After? I forget.) Yes!! I love Tuck Everlasting! I recently(ish) discovered that they had a Broadway musical, too, and I really liked the song "Everlasting." :)

What is the book like . . . Well. *clears throat* It's pretty unique, since it has such a unique theme. It's got a slow, steady, and subtle writing style that works perfectly and allows the story to shine through (in my opinion ;)). I guess you could call it "haunting," but only in the best, beautiful way. One of those quotes they have on the back of the cover on one of my copies says: "A fearsome and beautifully written book that can't be put down or forgotten." I'd agree with that, mainly, though I'm not quiiiite sure if I'd also use the adjective "fearsome." But I get what they were saying.

Anywho, that's just my rather biased view on it -- but, as you can see, it's one of my favorites, so. ;) It's definitely not everyone's thing (for example, I know Rosie McCann and Jessica Prescott weren't huge fans), so I can't say for sure whether you'd like it, but I think you'd at least enjoy trying it? (And also, the movie adaptation with Alexis Bledel is spot-on perfect. *cries a little because of the feels*)

Whew! Sorry for talking your ear off. ;D

  2. YOU'VE BEEN WORKING ON YOUR STORY EVERY DAY??!! Wow. Now I really feel like a lazy, undisciplined person. Haha. ;P How do you do it?? ;) (And forgetting one day is nothing. I'm still highly impressed.)

Yes, don't worry about the length. Just keep "chuffing along". "And when you come to the end, stop." ;)

Gaaahhh! That Pinterest picture. It fits perfectly. BUT IT'S SO SAD! Make this story have a happy ending, PLEASE!!!

    2. Awwww, thank you, Miss Woodhouse!! 'Tis so sweet of you. :) But, goodness me, I only worked on it every day (nearly every day ;)) because of NaNoWriMo -- it's not my normal habit by any means!! ;)

ISN'T IT CRUSHING. *heart crumples with you*

Awwwww, thank you!! I really appreciate that!! :D At the moment I'm sort of trying to keep it "under wraps" . . . but who knows? Maybe I will post some excerpts sometime soon. ;) (Also, I did actually post a few snippets on zee other blog a while ago before I actually started writing it. There's a link to that post in the first "Writing Update" post I did on this blog, I think.)

      P.S. Haha, no problem. ;D
